My friend Katia is also a photographer and it is always an honour to take pictures of another photographer’s family. This was the second time I worked with Katia and her husband Justin. Previously I shot their Fun Rock and Roll Maternity Session in my studio. This time we met in High Park for an outdoor family session with little Jolene, who at the time was already eight months old. Fall is my favorite time of the year in Ontario and I love photographing outdoors since I can capture the colours of the leaves as my backdrop. I have not seen the fall so beautifully represented anywhere else in the places I have been! We chose High Park to be a location for this session, because this parks offers so many different settings; you can walk down to water, find hidden trails or simply enjoy the areas with trees where leaves have fallen down and created a nice colorful carpet. It is conveniently located in the city and at the same time it provides the illusion of being away, deep in the heart of nature. Jolene was learning how to walk. I love this age, because when my first son turned eight months old, I remember watching him learning things very quickly; one day he would figure out how to seat, next thing he would practice and perfect how to crawl, and then he would be already standing holding onto something…before I realized, he would be suddenly walking around the house! The day of our session was warm and sunny, usually it gets colder around this time, but luckily we had nice weather. Overall it was great session and I was very pleased with the results and even happier knowing that Katia has printed and framed some of these pictures!
