This year I was particularly inspired to photograph an outdoor session in the fall, given the plenitude of vibrant colors we had this season, as well as the mild temperatures that we had throughout. Here is the first of a series of family pictures, called Autumn in High Park. The star of this session is Lara, she is almost three years old and very active. I have previously photographed Lara and here is the link to the studio baby photo session when Lara was only 7 weeks old. It is quite an experience to observe two different stages of her life, and admire how much she has grown! Predominately, I loved the energy and excitement that Lara had during this photo session. She enjoyed playing outdoors and spending time with her parents Mirela and Nader. It is a special time of the year when maple leaves turn magically colorful and creates for the most part, a perfect playground for the kids. I definitively believe that High Park is a great location for any type of outdoor photography; with such a variety of trees, plants, flowers, and harmoniously designed landscapes, it provides different possibilities which can be suitable for pictures, according to the artistic sensibility of your photographer. One of my favorite places is where the maple trees are, at the bottom of the Hillside gardens. Although it is an iconic Canadian tree, I find that each of them has a unique look and in a way a personality, which can be appreciated in the work of A.Y. Jackson. I can clearly remember that very special day when I first encountered the work of the Group of Seven in the National Gallery, in Ottawa; their technique and appreciation of nature made quite an impression on me that still reverberates to this day.
