Toronto Wedding Photographer | Winter Wedding at Spencers on the Waterfront
March 18, 2012
My first 2012 wedding, what great way to start the season! Margaret and Kyle are an AWESOME couple and winter weddings are FUN!
They really made their winter wedding special by choosing Spencers on the Waterfront as their wedding reception, and in addition to that, the skating ring was a hit; Bride, Groom and all the wedding party went skating! Margaret is a talented graphic designer and all the wedding details were her creations. She did an AMAZING job! Margaret and Kyle are very easy going and gave me and Sebastien all the creative freedom. I am so happy how many great locations we covered. I liked the Crossroads, beautiful church and great winter indoor option for portraits afterwards. The waterfront is stunning in the winter; the rocks, the red branches, I really love the variety of shots we did. I was fascinated with so many pictures.
A little bit of background how I meet Kyle and Margaret. I am third time wedding photographer for Ferris family.
First, Christa (Kyle’s oldest sister) and Darryl flew me from Toronto to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic in July 2008 to be their destination wedding photographer at their wedding at the Majestic Colonial Resort. They were the first couple I photographed in Punta Cana and later that year I photographed another ten weddings in that Country. I could never forget Christa and Darryl’s wedding. First time I seen all the guests including the bride and groom jump in the pool and the end of the reception. See pictures HERE. I also took Christa and Darryl for their Trash the Dress session to my favorite place in Dominican Republic – Altos de Chavon. This is how I met Kyle.
Second, Leslie ( Kyle’s second sister) and Bogdan contacted me in Toronto to be their wedding photographer in October 2010. They had a beautiful fall wedding at the Ancaster Old Mill. We took some amazing pictures and again, it was the first time for me to photograph at Ancaster Old Mill, and I loved the water falls and architecture of this place. It was nice to see the Ferris family again and to meet Margaret for the first time!
I remember I was photographing Leslie’s details in the morning (at the Waterfront Hotel in Burlington), and Kyle and Margaret came downstairs with me to the lobby to help me hang the dress and carry the bouquet, shoes, rings and etc. I took some shots of the two of them as well, and I saw how happy they were together. They even told me: "you are going to be our wedding photographer too!"
And here we were, February 4, 2012 at Margaret and Kyle’s wedding. I have known their families for 4 years I spend a week with them in Dominican Republic, I was invited to photograph Leslie and Bogdan wedding and now to be part of Margaret and Kyle’s big day I feel so honored to be covering some of the most the important events in the Ferris family.
