This is my first spring newborn session in studio. After photographing numerous maternity sessions this past winter, I had the opportunity to finally greet a gorgeous addition to this wonderful family.
Ginna and David came for their maternity studio session back in February, and we explored the concept of henna tattoo art on her belly (See pictures HERE). She was 10 days away from her due date, and I was very glad that I was able to photograph her before their baby girl was born.
Lola was sixteen days when I finally met her. She was the first girl after various sessions when I photographed boys. I was very excited to be able to display vibrant and feminine colors, which highlight her beautiful features, along with spring themed props, backgrounds, and ideas.
Reds and pastel pink colors remind me a lot of Boticelli’s “Primavera”, which I was able to see last summer in Florence; I feel this is the perfect season for floral motives, since many beautiful flowers bloom after winter. This is a time of renewal and new life; certainly a great season for newborn photography.
It is always a challenge to capture the smile of a newborn baby. At that age, they need to spend a lot of time getting a good sleep, which is very important for their development, and when they are awake, they tend to be a little serious.
Lola was an exception; she smiled on several occasions, and I was very happy to photograph those moments. As a photographer I need to be constantly focused, since in the blink on an eye, a detail like this can be missed quite easily.
All in all, it was a great newborn studio session, I was able to take some great shots, and I am confident they will be very pleased with the results.
