I was very excited to shoot on location; it is my first portrait session outside of my studio this year (besides the weddings)☺I also enjoy the feeling of the town, the mix between old and new, and the fact that there are great places to visit such as the McMichael Canadian Art Collection Gallery Shop.
When I walked into the house of Aylin and her husband Cengiz, I noticed that the colours were beige and white, which is perfect for taking pictures. It is always a challenge for a family & baby photographer not knowing the location and it is good to be prepared, so I brought some props, backdrop, wraps and hair accessories. I was actually happy that the house had so much to offer in terms of decoration and Alinda’s parents preferred a minimalistic approach to the styling of the session.
We started with some solo shots of Alinda in her room and I love the shots or Alinda by herself as well as with her teddy bear. We then proceeded to family portraits with the grandparents, parents, and different combinations.
Since it was her nap time, she fell asleep, and I was able to capture her dreaming.
I was pleased with the results, specially considering that the pictures were taken in a location that was completely new to me, however the beauty of the family, and the great surroundings were crucial in the final art that was created.
