This spring I had the pleasure of meeting my friend’s son; Daniel. He also happens to be our neighbor. Last winter Natasha invited me to her new place and had me over for a cup of tea. During our conversation, we found out that we were both expecting. I was so excited that all I could think about was how amazing it is to have a friend of mine who is having a baby at almost the same time. Not only that, but a friend who lives in my building complex! Daniel was about one month and a half when I took these pictures. It was a beautiful evening in June with warm weather. I love the way he always noticed me and was quite aware of the camera. Daniel enjoyed our photo session so much that he even gave us a smile. One of my favorite props that I have is my versatile oval wooden bowl because it works every time at every possible stage of growth. I photographed babies sleeping when they were newborn, as well as toddlers who love to seat in it. The nice blanket that you see was hand made and given to Daniel as a gift, so we had to include it. Our little “oasis” (as I call it), the little park in the middle of downtown in King St West area is a great spot for pictures. Often I think that we do not appreciate places that we use everyday or surrounded by during our daily routine. From my experience, baby photos are very important since milestone moments are rather ephemeral. It should be of great consideration to have professional pictures taken (especially during the first year). Their appearance changes dramatically from month to month, and unlike other stages of life, these are so unique that require all the attention if families want to preserve them and enjoy them at later moments in life.
