It seems it was yesterday when I photographed baby Tristan in my studio. This month, exactly a year later, I visited Solveiga & Francois at their lovely home to capture Tristan’s portraits. I cannot believe how fast time flies! When I first entered their house, I walked around to scout and find compatible spots to take pictures; I noticed one wall had all of the pictures I have been taking for the past five years for their family, and felt a great deal of happiness and satisfaction. There were pictures from Solveiga & Francois’s destination wedding in Cuba, which happened in one of my favorite resorts – Paradisus Rio Del Oro in Holguin. Also trash the dress session pictures at the beach early morning, and of course Tristan’s first studio baby photo session, when he was only 7 weeks old. I am honoured to know that they have enjoyed my photography in the past five years, and I am grateful that they have always come back to me to capture those precious moments!
I came while Tristan was still napping and I had everything ready before he woke up. I find is the best time to do the pictures right after child’s nap, because their moods are at their best, since they have rested well from their active schedules.
Tristan immediately liked the vintage fire truck that I brought for him to play with, and I started to take pictures using a vintage brick wall theme – I love the outfit that Solveiga chose: rolled up jeans, white onesie, and the best detail that completed this look – suspenders! Also, my red "radio flyer” tricycle turned out to be an exciting toy for Tristan, and he loved sitting on it and gave us big smile that I did not miss.
A big giant dog is one of Tristan’s favorite toys, so we put the toy on the floor and let Tristan play with it. I love the simplicity and beauty of these pictures.
As soon as I walked in the living room their beautiful natural Christmas tree caught my attention, so I definitively wanted to include it in the pictures. It made a perfect backdrop for family and solo shots.
Another great spot, was Tristan’s room with a wall size decal of fresh green grass, we sat Tristan on the floor and Solveiga and Francois kept him smiling, clapping while I took some nice candid shots.
As of family portraits, I like to take a variety of shots, some of my favorite include the portrait on the white sofa, when Tristan was giving hug to his mommy and luckily another portrait on the orange sofa, Tristan is giving hug to his daddy, and those playful portraits of three of them on the floor with giant dog and in the Tristan’s room on the bed.Tristan was a perfect model and I can say for sure this portrait photo session on-location was a big success!
