Let me start by introducing you to Melissa and Kord; I met Melissa two and a half years ago while strolling downtown. Melissa was always great and pleasant to chat with and I enjoyed talking to her every time I went to the place where she worked. One day in our conversation Melissa asked me what did I do for living and I told her that I am a wedding and portrait photographer, so she asked me for my business card. It must have been one and a half years ago. This spring I visited Melissa, she was so excited and told me that Kord proposed to her and immediately told me that she wanted me to photographer her wedding! I was happy to hear such great news and excited to be part of this. I learned that Kord took Melissa to the Toronto Island and popped the question during a delightful and carefully planned picnic. It took him some time to get all the final details together, like finding the right picnic basket, of course after he had found the perfect ring, and then just wait for good weather…I remember May was a little unpredictable it would be warm and sunny during the week and rain on the weekend. But once all the factors aligned, he proposed in this very romantic setting. When I met Kord for the first time, I asked him about the engagement; he told me Melissa had immediate tears of happiness and she was so excited. It was interesting how I met Kord and got invited to the engagement party. We took our kids to swim to the outdoor pool downstairs in our complex, and while we were swimming Gad noticed Melissa in our little picnic park area. I was surprised to see her there, and observed that she and Kord where nicely dressed up. When we waived to them they were so excited and had no idea we lived there, so they ended up inviting us to the celebration, which was quite a party! I immediately noticed the strong connection Melissa and Kord have, how much they love and care for each other. When we discussed the ideas for the engagement session, we knew it had to be a picnic and part of the session had to be in the Toronto islands. As the day came to do our session we choose to do a picnic in High Park during the day and then go to Toronto Island to capture an amazing sunset with the Toronto skyline. The photos turned out amazing, and I cannot wait for their wedding next year!
