Anne and Ivan’s wedding took place during the fall, and it was the perfect Autumn Wedding. I decided to recollect the day through Anne’s thoughts, write the highlights that came from her point of view, and even add some commentary about my experience with the fabulous food.
Inspiration for choosing the right location can come from many sources, and for Anne and Ivan it happened after a wine tour in this wonderful place. The Niagara wine country has many things to offer year round, and they started going to the lobster festival during the summer, and the ice wine festival as well every year. Ivan actually proposed in one of their winery trips, and they knew then, that they would get married in Niagara Wine Country.
Although Anne and Ivan knew the area quite well, they had not been to the Cave Spring Winery. It took one look to fall in love with the location, the Escarpment, the ceremony site, and over all, the vineyards; with the Bruce trail behind them, and a view of Toronto by the distance, they knew this was the right place. Anne and Ivan both share a love for the natural beauty of the outdoors, and a peaceful vision of the city where they met and they fell in love. I felt the same when I visited the Cave Spring Vineyard for the first time. I especially like the feel of been surrounded by grapevines in Summer and Fall that have a unique character for taking pictures, or like in their case, a perfect Autumn Wedding.
Anne and Ivan were very happy with their perfect Autumn Wedding, which happened the way they dreamt it. Their officiant, Sheldon Kofsky, led an amazing ceremony, which had a heartfelt feeling and a touch of humour, which in Anne’s perspective genuinely represents them as a couple. An amazing scenery provided the perfect setting for the gathering of the most special people in their lives, their family, and as she says, their “bestest” friends. The couple’s strong appreciation for wine and food was satisfied by the incredible offerings from the Inn on the Twenty. They had a four course menu of Roasted Butternut Squash soup, Scallops and Rissotto as appetizer, choice of Prime Rib or Cornish Hen for the main course, and Chocolate and Caramel mousse bomb for dessert.
From my experience, food tasted as good as it looked. I remember the roasted butternut squash soup was delicious, a perfect showcase of an autumn wedding’s harvest vegetable. The Scallops were succulent, and the cornish hen as well as the prime rib were delectable. Dessert was the perfect closure to a memorable feast, as chocolate and caramel blended in a perfect combination. Compliments to the chef!
Anne and Ivan’s wedding had three details that were absolutely unique. They collected wine corks over the years, even from travels to other places, and Ivan personally made the place card holders by cutting them. It was a lot of work, but certainly worth it as every place card holder was as unique as the special people who gathered that day. The chalkboard signs and the menu was made by Anne’s niece, and this had an additional meaning as Anne and her niece bonded while going to Michael’s when she was creating these chalkboards. Anne’s favourite colour is purple, and it can be appreciated in details everywhere, as you can see in the photographs.
Anne and Ivan’s first dance was “You and Me”, by Dave Matthews Band, which they once saw in concert when they started dating. The moment when they were announced husband and wife was very special, as they felt that it marked the new beginning of their life together as a married couple. Their amazing Autumn Wedding was perfect from beginning to end, filled with many details that were captured throughout their Big Day’s photographs.
