I love the cherry blossoms in High Park; I have been waiting for this event and I was very surprised to find out that this year the Sakura trees bloomed three weeks earlier. I knew exactly who would share this excitement with me and who would be interested in having the engagement photography session during this special time of the year.
I met January and Duy for the first time in October, when they contacted me about photography services for their wedding in beautiful Casa Loma this coming July. I remember January describing the feeling and the look of how she pictured her wedding to be, and I thought the idea of cherry blossoms for their engagement session would be perfect.
They met with me in High Park at 8 am in the morning. I like early sessions for two important reasons: the lighting is warm and beautiful, and there are not that many people around, especially knowing how crowed High Park can get during this time of year.
I have to admit it was cold and windy, but January and Duy were great and totally up for some creative ideas that I had. I found this great spot and could not resist not taking pictures there, this one tree was full of fully bloomed flowers and I just started to photograph through it.
An interesting fact about these cherry trees is that they were a gift from Japan. When you walk into this area of the park during this season, you immediately get the feeling of being in a different city.
When I looked at the pictures in my camera I instantly knew that beautiful light and romantic feel was the same that January described. I love the colors and the softness of these pictures. I hope you enjoy them too J
